New Internet Car Radio May Spell The Death Of Satellite Radio

Just found this interesting article about a new electronic device that is getting allot of buzz at a trade show in Las Vegas. Read Kurt Hanson’s RAIN Review!

The Blaupunkt/miRoamer device (shown below), is an in-dash auto Internet radio tuner.

The device allows users to listen to their favorite Internet radio stations, including my very own “Smooth Jazz and More”, without the need of a computer.

Some bloggers are pronoucing the imminent death of satellite radio. Gizmodo declared, “Satellite radio is dead…this is just the beginning of car internet radio, for sure.”

Another blogger, Tom Webster of The Infinite Dial, said, “The day is looming when you’ll have your choice of thousands of Internet radio stations to listen to on your commute.”

But the most stinging review was by Jennifer Long on her blog, Audio4Cast, who said, “Delphi and AutoNet already announced plans for an in-car Internet radio as well…It could also spell the end of satellite radio.”

With more and more devices for Internet radio coming on the market, there’s no telling how far the future is!

Now, if only the record labels and the federal government can get their act together!
