Answering the call were some pretty big names in the Smooth Jazz music world. Toronto-based jazz ensemble Four80East, saxophonist Dante Lewis, guitarist Blake Aaron and former Jazzmasters lead singer Helen Rogers created special PSA’s to alert Smooth Jazz and More listeners of the urgency to help support the long-time Live365 radio affiliate. The PSA’s will be placed into rotation during the day.
“It was a great surprise to hear about the help we’re getting.”, said Smooth Jazz and More’s radio programmer, Mike James. “Any help we can get to keep us going is greatly appreciated.” The Internet radio station created a GoFundMe fundraising campaign in May after previous efforts to keep it going dried up.
The fundraising drive has brought in $575 in donations, short of its $2,500 goal. The amount was enough to pay for the radio station’s Live365 administrative cost in November, purchase some much needed radio equipment and pay for the station’s website. Donations are still needed for April, 2016; which is the next Live365 deadline.
