Alternative Plans For San Diego Smooth Jazz Festival Is "Turning Lemons Into Lemonade"

Twenty four hours after the abrupt cancellation of the Oasis Jazz Festival, work is quickly in progress to salvage this weekend. A Facebook group has been created in order to keep “marooned” smooth jazz lovers in the San Diego area in the loop on alternative plans for the weekend.

One event that has been created is “The Digital Guy Foundation CD release party and Showcase Concert”. The show, which will take place this Saturday at ‘Anthology:SanDiego’, will feature teen sax phenom, Vincent Ingala, whose latest CD is “North End Soul”. Ingala will be making his first performance on the west coast. Also scheduled to join him will be Greg Manning, Jaared, Brad Rambur and Art Sherrod, Jr. Organizers of the event are asking for donations and those who had a VIP pass for the weekend will be admitted free.

Another event still slated to take place this Friday is the benefit concert aboard the USS Midway. “In Concert for Cancer” a fundraiser for the Scripps Cancer Center. Featured artists included guitarist Richard Smith, keyboardist Gregg Karukas, saxophonist Mindi Abair and “The Sax Pack” Kim Waters, Jeff Kashiwa and Steve Cole.

For more information on changes this weekend, go to the Facebook group or the “Smooth Jazz Spot Blog“.
