Smooth Jazz and More has been invited to be on the nominating committee of the 2011 Oasis Contemporary Jazz Awards. Bill Paddock, the event’s co-Producer issued the invitation to our Internet radio station this week. This year’s show will be held in San Diego, California the weekend of March 10-13.
There will be sixteen events planned over four days, including an official ribbon cutting, music workshops, concerts, an 18-hole Celebrity Golf Tournament, a VIP party at the Hard Rock Cafe and the official awards ceremony, to be held at the San Diego Civic Theatre.
The awards show started in 2000 as the Oasis Smooth Jazz Awards in Ft Worth, Texas. They moved their venue to the Chicago Theater in Chicago in 2001, where they sold out three weeks in advance. The next year, they moved the awards show to San Diego in 2002. The awards have been on hiatus the last few years, but has re-started again in a big way.
