April is Jazz Appreciation month and Smooth Jazz and More will be joining the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC in the festivities all month long! Jazz is an original art form, American as Apple Pie. It has its roots in Blues & Classical music. It has the highs of Coltrane to the lows of Holiday.
This year, the National Museum of American History (NMAH) has developed a poster of the legendary jazz artist Dave Brubeck to celebrate. It was created by famed artist, Leroy Neiman. Neiman has provided other jazz works for JAM posters featuring Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington.
Smooth Jazz and More will be playing PSA’s from many great music artists, including Pat Metheny, Dave Koz and Chris Botti, highlighting the promotion of Jazz Appreciation Month. We’ll also go back to our jazz roots and include many of the legends that made jazz what it is in our daily playlist.
You can also celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month on your own, as well. Go to a Jazz concert. Read a book about Miles Davis, Duke Ellington or just buy a jazz CD or music download and enjoy the music we here at Smooth Jazz and More love the most.
