Protesters clogged the sidewalks and streets of Capitol Hill, many of them loud and furious “Tea Party” opponents of the health care overhaul. Some rallies in the past were orderly, with speeches and well-behaved crowds. But Saturday’s was different, with anger-fueled demonstrators surrounding members of Congress who walked by.

While walking from his Congressional office with with Georgia Congressman John Lewis (D), Rep. Andre Carson, D-Ind., told a reporter that he heard a rumbustious crowd of “Tea Party” members holler, “Kill the Bill, Nigger”. Some among the crowd chanted “the N-word, the N-word, 15 times.”
“It was like going into the time machine with John Lewis,” said Carson, a large former police officer who said he wasn’t frightened but worried about the 70-year-old Lewis, a leader of the civil rights era who is twice his age. “He said it reminded him of another time.”
I’ve always said that, “it always comes out in the wash.” And many have shown that if you can’t convince people to be on your side fairly, you resort to extreme measure, such as what the “Tea Party” members are doing. You show exactly how you feel.
All of this immature behavior is good for the country. I don’t believe in censorship. Instead of hiding behind a white sheet or a religion, Americans will know exactly who you are and what you stand for. What it all comes down to is that many White Americans (Southerners, mostly.) have a hard time with a black man as President.
They hate progress. (That’s where the word “Progressive” comes from.) In order to stop it, “Tea Party” members have to resort to irrational behavior to get their point across. By seeing “Tea Party” members in their true colors, we expose them in all of their brash, glorious hatred.
That, will be their ultimate “Scarlet Letter”…with a capital “R”!
