Senator Bunning’s Actions Doesn’t Surprize This Blogger!

So let me get this straight! Millions of unemployed were on pins and needles, trying to figure out whether they were going to continue getting unemployment checks because of one man?

Senator Jim Bunning (shown above) started a one-man filibuster against extended unemployment benefits and health insurance subsidies for the jobless. In addition, workers on federal transportation projects were furloughed and health insurance subsidies for the jobless stopped.

After much uproar, Senator Bunning conceded after pressure from both sides. His actions amounts to a downright, heartless, gutless move that was reminiscent of Potter from the 1946 film, “It’s a Wonderful Life”.

Not to say that this surprised me. Nothing surprises me about the GOP. What does surprise me is Senator Bunning’s reasoning. Bunning wanted to force Democrats to find ways to finance the bill so that it wouldn’t add to the deficit.

Excuse me? Where was Senator Bunning 7 years ago when President Bush used what amounts to a credit card to fund the Iraq War? By the way, we’re still looking for the Weapons of Mass Destruction! How’s that looking?

What this all proves is that Republicans, like Senator Bunning, don’t care about the middle class. What a gutless coward! Even worse, he used to pitch for the Philadelphia Phillies and a couple of other losing teams! That also makes him a loser!
