Sportscaster George Michael Dies

Sad news in the broadcasting world as sportscaster George Michael died this week at the age of 70.

He was best known for his weekly “Sports Machine”, which was broadcast on Sunday nights highlighting mostly football, but also the lighter side of sports. It was revolutionary, as it was the pre-cursor to today’s “SportCenter” on ESPN.

I personally remember him from his announcing days at Musicradio 77 WABC in the mid-70’s. His announcing style was legendary, and was just one of the reasons why I was called into this business.

All the best to his family during this difficult period.
