Argentina: Land of the Tango!

Tango, the official dance of Argentina.

One of the most creative dances ever created is the Tango.

It can be sensual, emotional and explosive. The dance was developed in South America and is the official dance of Argentina.

There are various styles of Tango, including Tango Argentino, Tango Oriental and Ballroom Tango. The styles are mostly danced in either an open embrace, where lead and follow have space between their bodies, or a close embrace, where the lead and follow connect either chest-to-chest (Argentine tango) or in the upper thigh, hip area (American and International tango).

In the country’s capitol, Buenos Aires, it’s not uncommon to see couples dancing the tango in parks and on the streets. It makes for truly an amazing site to see in person. (See the video below!)

If you do decide to head south to Argentina, you should also consider other incredible sites the country offers. Places to see include Los Glaciares National Park where glaciers cover an enormous range of the park.

And, of course, there’s soccer. A world power in the sport, Argentina is currently ranked 8th, according to FIFA. They’ve won the World Cup twice, in 1978 and 1986, as well as Olympic Gold in 2004 and 2008.
