The Lack Of A Sports Leader Up Here In Canada!

Mark Buehrle of the Chicago White Sox did something special yesterday. So special that only 18 pitchers before him achieved the feat in the 133 year history of major league baseball. He was perfect against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Buehrle pitched his second no-no of his career, winning 5-0 before a rambunctious crowd at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.

But you wouldn’t have seen it as breaking news on any of the Canadian sports cable networks. Not one channel (TSN, Rogers SportsNet or The Score) broke into the final inning of the game.

In fact, only “The Score” had any mention of the achievement when it happened and that was only with a crawl informing them of the result while regular programming was taking place.

That begs the question. If you say you’re Canada’s sports leader, shouldn’t you be doing just that, taking the lead?

Man, I miss ESPN!
