In 2004, I was emailed by an up and coming saxophonist from Ukraine about whether I would like a CD for play list consideration. I said, “Sure, why not?” I took a listen and was amazed by the crisp and clear sound of his music. I immediately crowned his CD, the best of 2004.
He’s come along way, but Konstantin Klashtorni’s music has finally been recognized. Starting this month, his latest CD entitled, “Smoothing” will be released in the United States by NuGroove Records. The Holland resident joins some pretty impressive company on the label. Other artists who call the label home includes Pianist Bob Baldwin, Saxophonist Michael Lington, and guitarists Torcuato Mariano, Steve Oliver and Brian Tarquin.
Konstantin is a shining example of the power Internet radio has and what it’s capable of. It shows just how important the medium is in developing new and unheard of artists. Without Internet radio stations like “Smooth Jazz and More”, Konstantin probably would never have been discovered.
We’re humbled by his success and wish him all the best!
