Kentucky’s Mitch McConnell: Senator Idiot!

Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell

If there are people in the United States that deserve the title, “2008 Idiot of the Year”, that title would be best suited for the senator from the great state of Kentucky, Mitch McConnell (shown above).

The current minority leader of the US senate is going back to Washington by the closest of margins after performing list after list of decisions that goes contrary against what the American people want.

Senator McConnell has been in lockstep with President Bush in fucking up the US economy to the point that we could be looking at “Hoovervilles” in week’s time.

“Hooverville” was a popular name given for a shanty town built by homeless men during the Great Depression. Many were set up in Washington, D.C. and other major cities during the 1930’s. They were featured prominently in John Steinbeck’s 1939 novel, “The Grapes of Wrath.”

You would think that after nearly being kicked out of office, Senator McConnell would have known better. But this week, after Democratic leaders and the White House came to an agreement to bail out the auto industry, Senator McConnell led the charge in opposition.

Even more insulting, Senator McConnell suggested that the United Auto Workers union take upfront pay and benefit concessions in return of the bill being passed in the Senate, which union officials soundly rejected.

The bailout bill died on the Senate floor, short of the 2/3rds majority.

With bankruptcy on the horizon for the three big auto companies, Senator McConnell has taken the side of a few rich friends rather than helping the constituents in his own state. Kentucky is home to many auto making plants that will soon be shut down due to bankruptcy.

It’s a heartless, gutless move from a man who has lost touch with who he’s supposed to be serving. Kentucky should be ashamed of re-electing an idiot back to Washington!

Maybe they’re idiots for electing him!
